Hi Lora,
Your podcast idea is unique, and I think it would benefit a lot of middle schoolers and teachers! I feel upbeat and ready to learn with your music in the background. I suggest a more calming and relaxing choice of music to instill a mood for learning. Since you are reading poems, you would want music that slows down the mood and creates a sense of tranquility for the listeners so they pay attention to the words you are saying and less so to the beat of the music. The image you chose is perfect for your podcast. It clearly shows the reading aspect of your podcast, and the beautiful flowers align with the idea of reading poems. I would suggest putting the title of your podcast in the photo. Your citations are mostly well done. It seems you linked the author’s page to the actual photo instead of the author’s name in your post. These are easy fixes, and the rest of your post is great! Great job!
Hi Lora. I really enjoyed listening to your podcast! The overall tone is calm and soothing, which makes it easy to follow and engaging. However, I found the background music to be a bit playful and upbeat, which slightly contrasts with the mood of the poem. I agree with the previous comment that a softer, more calming piece—perhaps a piano melody—would enhance the listening experience.
I also really liked the image you chose; it fits perfectly with the theme of your podcast. However, I noticed there isn’t a link to Suzy Hazelwood, the author of the picture. Adding a proper credit link would be a great touch!
Overall, this is a wonderful concept for an educational podcast. I think it would not only appeal to middle school students but also to poetry lovers who appreciate deep and thoughtful interpretations of poems. Good job!
Hi Lora! What a neat idea for a podcast! I think this could be a great way to get middle schoolers to read more poetry. Overall the audio quality on your podcast is great. The background music doesn’t overpower your speech and the audio is clear and easily understood. While I like the background music, the bounciness of the beat feels at odds with the soothing, mellow tones of your voice and the moody/gloomy subject matter of the Poe poem. I think you have a really fun opportunity here to play with a spookier background audio (or even special effects noises) to play up the macabre themes in Poe’s work. I think the image you chose for your thumbnail helps to underscore to listeners that this is a literary podcast, though I don’t see any text on the thumbnail. Great work!
