Scott Fitzgerald, earlier this week.\u00a0 The story completely ferried me to the southern coast of France in the spring of 1916, a year before the Russian Revolution. With Fitzgerald\u2019s vivid imagery, it is hard not to be transported into another world.\u00a0 \u201cLove in the Night\u201d basks in all the romantic heart-string pulling and discovery of \u201cFirst Love.\u201d\u00a0 I would describe it as \u201cYoung Love&#8221; where everything feels perfect for one brief moment, resulting the desire to recapture that feeling again and again.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I read reviews calling Fitzgerald\u2019s love story \u201ccheesy\u201d and \u201cunrealistic\u201d.\u00a0 Admittedly, I am a romantic, but I don\u2019t devour Harlem Romance novels or \u201clive\u201d for the next Hallmark movie.\u00a0 So, why did this love story touch me?\u00a0  It is as the whimsical song represented above says, \u201cI hope for the best\u201d.\u00a0 I chose to see the world through rose-colored glasses.\u00a0 As children, we are born believing in the rosy view of life.\u00a0 Little kids see the wonder all around, waking up each day to happily embrace new possibilities.\u00a0 But over time, we start to remove our rose-colored glasses for periods of time.\u00a0 And eventually some of us begin forgetting to pick them up from the nightstand in the morning.\u00a0 Some might argue that \u201csociety is broken\u201d and putting on those glasses blinds you to happenings in the real world.\u00a0 But, rose-colored glasses aren\u2019t blindfolds. \u00a0 They don\u2019t prevent you from seeing sadness or pain.\u00a0 Choosing to wear the glasses isn&#8217;t an act of denial, but a deep belief in hope.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Fitzgerald\u2019s story, a moment of true happiness was created by the couple\u2019s love.\u00a0 And reflecting that they once knew happiness, inspired them to want to feel that love again.\u00a0 It was hope that crossed their paths again several years later.\u00a0 Perhaps ironically,\u00a0 Fitzgerald&#8217;s life was darkened by alcoholism, money problems, and the mental illness of his wife.\u00a0 But I think that when Fitzgerald wrote this story, he willingly slipped on colored glasses. \u00a0 Like me, he chose to see the world through rose-colored glasses deciding to hope for the best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Tiffany Walters (@thelaststoryguard)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This whimsical picture reminded me why I loved reading\u00a0 \u201cLove in the Night\u201d, a short story by F.
