I used the ambient sound of a crowd at a field first, to help acclimate the listener to the feeling of being out at a game. The type of game becomes more apparent shortly after by the added sound effect of a person hitting a ball, and the crowd transitioning to cheering at the play that is happening on the field. I have the music fade in as the crowd cheers and continue as the crowd fades out, and the introduction is made.
