Description:

Food Coma is a podcast about reviewing foods at the latest restaurants. The episode begins with a small snippet of a song that sings, “It’s the last time I talk about food.” I found this little snippet on Free Music Archive and just thought it was the perfect intro to the pod. After the little intro music, I introduce myself and the restaurant I’ll be reviewing and continue with the taste of the food. This portion would be the voice element of the podcast. During my reiteration of the restaurant, I added a low background noise of a restaurant just to give it the feel that I am giving the review live. Throughout the whole thing, there is very, very low jazz music. The intro song was just the singing, and I felt it needed instruments in the back, and that’s where the jazz came in. As well as, my voice needed a low track to be played over. Overall, I included voice, ambient sounds, and music.

This picture was taken during my trip to Costa Rica. I was looking out from the balcony of my Airbnb and spotted this little guy hanging out on the tree. I took out my camera and snapped a pic. The only problem was my camera’s zoom only goes so far. That is why in the original picture the monkey is surrounded by a hundred leaves, and you can barely see him and make out certain details. For the cropping of this picture, I went in as close as possible without cropping out part of the monkey’s body. I really wanted to capture the details of the monkey’s face and see the slight markings it has. I cropped the picture to emphasize the focal point, which in this instance is the monkey’s face. The monkey was moving along the branch, so I made sure to leave space in front of it. Following the rule of thirds, I adjusted it to have his eyes aligned with the right corner in the grid. The image now, with its new crop, creates the perfect picture.

Over the last few months my sister has really gotten into baking, specifically iced sugar cookies. I have never seen her take pleasure in a hobby before, but when she gets to cooking, I can see her face light up when her masterpiece comes out of the oven and it’s time to decorate. Looking through all of the pictures on Unsplash, none of them were really speaking to me on a personal level until this one caught my eye, and my sister immediately came to mind.

The audio to pair was easy to select. How it came so easy, you may ask? Well, my sister is what we like to call our “manic baker.” Jokingly, we describe her as this because she cooks as though she is being timed (with a countdown to the end of the world) and has no sense of the mess she makes while doing it. If you were to see my kitchen after my sister bakes, you would think the Tasmanian Devil went through it. It is truly chaotic, but I can attest that her finished product does not reflect the process. The audio I chose is very upbeat and just what I imagine is playing in my sister’s head while she bakes. Maybe there’s a method to the madness?

『 A Snapshot of My Life 』

UCF Class of 2024

Hello everyone! My name is Kaleah Gonzalez, and I currently live in Homestead, Florida. This is my first semester at Florida State University, and I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in Information Technology. I recently graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from UCF. After completing this program, I am debating getting my PhD. I have an interest in artificial intelligence and hope to delve a little deeper into it. I want to pursue a career in software development, creating and maintaining user needs.

My Doberman Copper:
Beach Edition

Outside of class, I enjoy multiple hobbies, such as reading, photography, and going to the beach. A fun fact about me is that I read 120 books last year. My favorite genres to read are romance and fantasy. Although I am fond of a hardcover here and there, most books I read are on my Kindle. I got into photography in 2023. I started to travel more and wanted to capture all those moments in a quality higher than an iPhone; I currently have a Canon G7X Mark III. I have been thinking about getting a film camera, but I’m indecisive about which one. So if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

I am excited about this class and learning different tools to create digital media projects. Effectively learning how to edit or design digital images, audio, and video elements is a nice addition to my growing passion for photography. I feel everyone can benefit from learning even the basics of digital media.
