When designing my podcast I decided on leaning into my interest in tabletop gaming and the vast fictional setting of Warhammer 40,000 universe. Considering the often intense feeling of the 40,000 universe I decide to use a heavy guitar riff for the introductory music that feeds into a dice roll sound effect for the transition to my introduction to the podcast itself. I took advantage of the Midjourney AI image generation to create a cover for the podcast with a fairly simple image of a cartoony table with dice falling over onto the table. “Failing Forward” as a title for the podcast refers to a table top gaming term where one fails a specific check but is still able to advance the plot forward, and that would play into the themes of the podcast. Moving the plot forward even though I might be mucking it up!
Connor, will you be covering HeroClix?! What a fun topic for a podcast. The intro music really grabs the listeners attention and prepares them for the exciting rounds ahead. The roll of the dice is a great addition. AI art is style all its own and I hope that never changes. This is the perfect illustration–even the dice that aren’t quite cubes.
Hi Connor,
I love this interesting topic, even though I don’t know much about the Warhammer 40,000 universe! The combination of the heavy guitar riff and the dice rolling sound effect works really well. It immediately sets the tone for an intense and immersive gaming atmosphere. I especially loved the dice roll effect after the heavy rock music in the beginning; it was a great transition into the episode! My only suggestion would be to shorten the guitar intro a bit to get into the content faster while still keeping that high-energy feel. Your use of AI-generated imagery for the cover is really cool! The cartoony table with dice rolling over it gives off a fun and inviting vibe, which contrasts nicely with the intensity of the game itself even if one of the dice seems to be merging with another, haha. I think this podcast has a lot of potential to appeal to both seasoned tabletop gamers and newcomers who are interested in Warhammer lore or just fun storytelling experiences. Maybe in the future, you could incorporate sound effects tied to specific game events (like battle sounds or dramatic music cues) to enhance the immersion even further.
Hi Connor, I really loved your intro with rock music and felt the energy with the red screen on your image as well. I liked the cartoony cover art as well with the detail of the dice and a table with the sound effects. I may have cut the intro music a little sooner and spoke then let more transition music play, but overall it was an awesome post.
